Call For Application
NHEV invites eligible partners and associated organisations to participate in the development of Energy OS, an AI-enabled next-generation software platform designed to create a unified intelligence and operating layer for India’s growing e-mobility ecosystem.
The initiative seeks to bring together relevant capabilities across OEMs, fleet operations, charging infrastructure, utilities, technology and allied services to build an integrated system for real-time visibility, forward-looking prediction and coordinated action.
What is Energy OS?
Energy OS is envisioned as the intelligence layer connecting the multiple systems that operate India’s e-mobility ecosystem.
Rather than functioning as another standalone dashboard, Energy OS is designed to work across existing OEM, fleet, charging, utility and third-party systems to create one shared operating picture.
It will enable stakeholders to move from fragmented data and reactive operations towards:
- Real-Time Visibility across vehicles, batteries, charging infrastructure and energy systems
- Forward-Looking Prediction of battery health, charging demand and grid-load requirements
- Coordinated Action across fleet operators, OEMs, charging networks, utilities and response partners
The Gap Energy OS Fills
India’s electric mobility ecosystem is expanding faster than its ability to effectively see, forecast, coordinate and operate the network.
Vehicles, batteries, charging assets and grid infrastructure are being deployed by multiple independent stakeholders, each operating different systems and data formats. While the required data already exists across telematics, charge-point, utility, fleet and OEM systems, it remains fragmented.
This creates critical gaps:
- Limited visibility across the wider network
- Difficulty forecasting charging demand and grid requirements
- Battery and vehicle issues being identified too late
- Reactive maintenance, dispatch and roadside assistance
- Manual coordination during incidents
- Lack of a shared record of incidents and their resolution
Energy OS is intended to bridge this gap by converting scattered operational data into a live, shared operating picture, forward-looking intelligence and coordinated action.
Why is This Prototype Crucial?
As EV adoption and charging infrastructure scale nationally, the cost of operating without a shared intelligence layer will continue to increase.
The prototype will help establish whether a unified operating layer can deliver meaningful improvements before wider deployment across the NHEV ecosystem.
A successful prototype can help address:
- Avoidable fleet downtime caused by undetected battery issues
- Charging infrastructure planning without reliable demand forecasts
- Unexpected load concentration and grid spikes
- Delayed incident resolution
- Reactive roadside assistance
- Reduced operational efficiency and public confidence
The Proof of Concept will therefore test the practical ability to transform today’s disconnected ecosystem data into tomorrow’s coordinated action.
Who is Energy OS Built For?
Energy OS is designed to serve the operational needs of multiple stakeholders across the NHEV ecosystem:
OEMs
Better visibility into vehicle and battery health, enabling earlier identification of potential failures and informed service intervention.
Fleet Operators
A live operating view across vehicles, batteries and routes, enabling predictive information and coordinated operational decisions.
Charge Point Operators
Location- and time-based charging demand forecasts to support proactive capacity planning.
DISCOMs
Forward-looking visibility into charging and energy demand to support grid planning and balancing.
Service & Response Partners
Diagnostic context at the point of dispatch for faster and better-informed roadside, insurance and emergency response.
NHEV Command Layer
A 24×7 monitoring and triage view providing a common operating picture across the wider network.
What Do Proposing Participants Need to Perform?
Participating organisations are expected to present one coherent, integrated architecture, rather than an isolated point solution.
The proposed solution should demonstrate:
- Real-Time Operating Picture
A continuously updated view across vehicles, batteries and charging infrastructure, capable of working across existing OEM, fleet, charging and utility systems. - Forward-Looking Prediction
The ability to forecast battery health and remaining life, charging demand by location and time, and grid-load requirements with sufficient lead time for stakeholders to act. - Coordinated, Autonomous Response
An orchestration layer capable of converting forecasts and live incidents into coordinated action, including optimised charging, fleet routing, grid balancing and engagement of relevant response partners. - Interoperability & Governance
Integration across OEM, fleet, charging, utility and third-party systems, supported by credible data privacy, security and governance frameworks.

What Does a Successful POC Deliver?
The success of the POC will be measured by outcomes, not simply features or the presence of a dashboard.
A successful POC should demonstrate that:
- Fleet managers, DISCOM planners and OEM service desks can operate from the same real-time picture.
- Potential battery faults can be identified before they become breakdowns.
- Charging capacity can be adjusted before demand exceeds available capacity.
- Grid operators can receive advance warning of major load spikes.
- Roadside assistance can be initiated as soon as a fault is detected.
- Response teams receive relevant diagnostic context at the point of dispatch.
- Incidents and their resolution are recorded through a shared, traceable system.
At scale, the expected ecosystem outcomes include less unplanned downtime, longer usable battery life, fewer emergency service dispatches and more predictable grid investment.
