About nHEV

National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) is a pilot program adopted by Govt of India; initially supported by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to upgrade highways into E-Highways. It conducted Tech-Trials on 3 pilot corridors, namely Delhi-Agra (Yamuna Expressway – 2020) and Delhi – Jaipur (NH48 – 2022) , Chennai – Trichy (NH 179 B 332 KM ) out of 12 National Corridors proposed by the Ministry of Power for electrification in its Guidelines and standards dated 14.12.2018 to be converted into E-highway. NHEV is built and funded on a Hybrid PPP Model called Annuity Hybrid E-Mobility (AHEM); currently in expansion mode of 5500 km e-highways on Bharatmala & Sagarmala routes from Delhi to Kanyakumari via Mumbai and Kolkata corridors.

Tech Trial Run-I

On 25th November, the Ease of Doing Business took the NHEV initiative forward by starting its Tech-Trial Run from Delhi to Agra via the Yamuna Expressway. During this trial, components of all three major Ease of Doing Business deliveries were showcased to advance the integration of EVs on highways across the nation. This 30-days trial run also demonstrated the state-of-the-art model of Annuity Hybrid E-Mobility (AHEM) on the ground, following its financial launch in March 2020.

What did we test ?

The challenge is to bring insights from this trial to serve the stakeholders, users, subscribers, financers, banks, operators, vendors and OEMs to take informed decisions on the immediate deployment of ZET, Hydrogen and Electric Freight. To thoroughly assess the technical viability & efficiency of ZET mobility and green infrastructure, the trial tested several key factors:

30 minutes for backup for EVs

30% lesser price for EVs (Battery Subscription)

30% CapEx utilization of Charging Infra

3 years breakeven for Station Investors

participants

Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs)
