Tech Trial Run-II
272 KM
25 September 2022
About nHEV
National Highways for Electric Vehicles (NHEV) is a pilot program adopted by Govt of India; initially supported by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry to upgrade highways into E-Highways. It conducted Tech-Trials on 3 pilot corridors, namely Delhi-Agra (Yamuna Expressway – 2020) and Delhi – Jaipur (NH48 – 2022) , Chennai – Trichy (NH 179 B 332 KM ) out of 12 National Corridors proposed by the Ministry of Power for electrification in its Guidelines and standards dated 14.12.2018 to be converted into E-highway. NHEV is built and funded on a Hybrid PPP Model called Annuity Hybrid E-Mobility (AHEM); currently in expansion mode of 5500 km e-highways on Bharatmala & Sagarmala routes from Delhi to Kanyakumari via Mumbai and Kolkata corridors.
Tech Trial Run-I outcomes
NHEV started its Tech Trial Run-1 on 25th November 2020 from Delhi to Agra via Yamuna Expressway, where components of all 4 major Ease of Doing Business deliveries were showcased to bring EVs on highways.
What did we test ?
After the massive success & response of the first NHEV TECH TRIAL RUN Delhi-Agra, held from 25th November 2020 – 25th December 2020, Ease of Doing Business took forward the NHEV initiative to transform Indian Highways into E-highways and hosted the TECH TRIAL RUN- II, starting from India Gate, New Delhi to Albert Hall Museum, Jaipur from 9th September 2022. The second phase was completed in October and revalidated the project’s viability. It concluded the commercial pilot, helping finalize cab and bus fares for EV passengers, assess the infrastructure required to support EV-friendly highways, and establish a successful financial model to leverage EVs for inter-state transportation. This 30 days trial run also demonstrated the state of art model of Annuity Hybrid E- Mobility (AHEM) on the ground after its Financial Launch in March 2020.
